ABSTRACT This research aims at exploring the concept of fighting (Jihad) in Islam through investigating the ethics of fighting and the urgent need to follow these ethics. The researcher adopts the historical analytic inductive methodology for this purpose in an endeavour to extract the main ethics which should be observed, and considered as the guidelines of fighting in Islam. The significance of the study stems from the general expected impact of following these principles on the stability, peace and security of the Islamic countries and the grave consequences of ignoring them. The problem of the study might be viewed within the framework of the current conspiracies the Islamic world in general and Islamic counties in particular face. This has resulted in the dissemination of extremist astray “Jihadi” groups who claim to be the sole and only representative of genuine true Islam as embodied in the life of the first generations of Muslims. The research is divided into two sections which are divided into subsections and followed by conclusions and recommendations. The first section deals with the general understanding of the concept of fighting and the legitimacy of the ethics of fighting in Islam. The second section investigates the purpose of fighting and its ethics and principles at the time of the Prophet, Mohammad Peace be upon him. Keywords: ethics, fighting, Jihad, Islam, Prophet’s time |
