This study discusses the suspicions of the critics of the Prophetic Hadiths in general, and the well-known Sunna collections in particular. These suspicions were based on verses from the Holy Quran:
1 – The claim that the Holy Quran is sufficient and so there is no need for the Sunnah of the Prophet and how this claim may be refuted.
2 – The claim that if the Sunnah had a binding force, Allah Almighty would protect it and how this claim may be refuted. Indeed, those who raise such a doubt are the enemies of the Qur'an which disavows them. They denied the Sunnah and fought it on the pretext that Qur’an is a sufficient source of faith and legislation in Islam.
They do not apply the Prophetic Sunnah at all, and do not cite their hadiths in their entirety. Their argument relies on the claim that Allah has promised to protect only the Qur'an, and therefore it is enough and sufficient, so they do not need the Sunnah according to them.
The Holy Qur'an firmly and unambiguously enjoins the Muslims to follow the Seal of the Prophets (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as He said explicitly and clearly: “Say: "If ye do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Say: "Obey Allah and His Messenger": But if they turn back, Allah loves not those who reject Faith”.
