ABSTRACT The dissertation explores an important and pressing necessity among sick Muslims in general and residents of Al Madinah Al Munawarah in particular. It focuses on the impact of seeking and applying cure in Quran and Sunnah on psychic, spiritual and organic diseases in a correct way that is entirely far from all kinds of swindle or associating anything with Allah. The dissertation presents an analytical study of seeking cure in Quran and Sunnah in the research coverage area, the diseases that are cured by the Holy Quran and Sunnah, and to what extent Al Madinah residents follow and apply correct cure seeking. The research is such a quantitative study that is based on collecting data via questionnaires and analyzing it (the data) using the SPSS program. The study includes 299 sick residents of Al Madinah Al Munawarah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The results of the survey show that most patients in the area of study are keen on protecting themselves by the Holy Quran and Prophet Mohammad’s invocations before being caught by diseases. They also believe that the Quranic recitations have a huge impact on the remedy of psychic, spiritual and organic diseases.

The results of the study indicate that almost all ruqyahas or Quranic recitations over  patients are legitimate  due to the efforts exerted by al-amr bilma ‘ ruf wannahyu ‘an al-munkar authority (The Enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong Authority). The recorded median reached a high degree of 3.89. The researcher recommends establishing specialized centers in which people seek cure that is derived from the Holy Quran and Sunnah, and under the supervision of an integrated team of psychiatrics, social workers and the people who recite the ruqyaha.
