THE PLACE FROM WHICH THE PROPHET WAS TAKEN TO THE HEAVENS

The place from which the prophet was taken to the Heavens.

The place of Al-Meraj was a point of disagreement among scholars.

Most scholars think that is Jerusalem where as some of them think it is the Holy mosque.

That's exactly what Al-Waqidi and Ibn Saad thought.

There are many hadiths supporting the first point of view:

a) Anas' hadith narrated from yazeed Ibn Abi Malik and Thabit’s narration from Hammad Ibn Salama. Both of the two narrations aren't nearly proven.

b)Abu Horaira's hadith and it is weak.

c)Abi Saeed Al-khodari's hadith and it is very weak.

d)Hozaifa Ibn Al-Yaman's and it appears to be weak, although it is the strongest in this respect.

e)There are two hadiths show that Mecca was the place where the prophet left for heavens.

a) Anas' Hadith, in the group's narration, and it is the strongest in this respect.

b) Abdal-Rahman Ibn qirt and it is nearly not valid.

There are two matters that support the idea that the place was mecca (incision).

Firstly, there is an agreement among the news narrations that the (opening of the prophet's chest) was in mecca and they all assured that the ascension (departure) was exactly afterward and this meant that the prophet's departure was from Mecca.

Secondly, It is that when the prophet told people about his departure to Jerusalem, he didn't mention the ascension. If he had been taken for the heavens from there, he would have mentioned that first at least to his relatives and companions since this matter is the biggest and the greatest.
