ABSTRACT
The medical profession is one of the most important human professions related to the human life and his body serving all classes of society. Therefore, all nations and people, in the past and modern times, paid attention to the doctor, his qualities and ethics which must be available in him. Islam shows its concern on doctors and pays each with great protection, burdens himself with obligations and imposes upon him qualities and ethics and implies on him legal provisions and liabilities in connection with his personality, profession, knowledge and his handling of patients. This research touches on how to observe doctor’s character and his behavior through a historical review from non-Islamic nations, then deals with it from a legal perspective based on the legal evidence. The research consists an introduction with two parts and a conclusion. The introduction deals with an introduction to science of medicine and its position. The first is: the qualities and ethics of a doctor in the eyes of doctors, ancient and modern. Second: the qualities of a doctor and his ethics in the light of Islamic law. The conclusion includes the most important results of the research. The research is followed by a historical approach, descriptive approach based on analysis and inference; with reference to the original and approved references in every field of arts, and documentations according to the requirements of scientific research.
