CHARACTERISTICS OF THE KHARIJITES IN THE SIX BOOKS OF THE HADITH OF THE PROPHET
MUT'EB BIN SAUD BIN JAZA' AL-HARBI
Abstract:
This research aimed to expose the qualities of the Kharijites in the light of the Hadiths of the Six Books, expose their misbehaviors and the psychological motives which led to these misbehaviors, expose the impact of these misbehaviors on the Khawarij on the one hand and the others on the other. This research adopted two approaches: first: the analytical approach, second: the inductive approach.
The research came up with the following results:
The Khawarij is a sect belongs to the people of innovation who are, regarding the doctrinal aspect, known for declaring the people of major sins as infidels and that they are everlasting dwellers of Hellfire. As for the political aspect, they rebel against and fight the rulers. Also, one of their qualities is that they recite the Quran but they do not understand it and it does not get into their hearts. They also read the noble Prophetic Hadith but they do not practice it correctly. They are also more active about doing acts of worship but their worship had no impact on improving their manners or modifying their behaviors. However, they call to the Book of Allah and think that there are none but them who stick to it. They are often characterized by being juvenile which is thought to be the reason for making mistakes. Additionally, they are reckless, naïve, frivolous, and stupid. One of their qualities is they rebel in case of schism and difference of the Muslims. One of the most dangerous acts against Muslim is that they fight Muslims and befriend the disbelievers. Thus, the history books are filled with their crimes against Muslims whenever and wherever. Of the results is that the Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade killing their leader, Dhi Al-Khuwasira, so that people cannot keep away from embracing Islam. The majority of scholars advocate not initiating the fight with them, i.e., Muslims should not fight them unless they use weapons against the Muslims. Those who do not use weapons must be given Dawah in a good manner and through evidence and proofs to abandon this deviant method and come back to the methodology of the people of Sunnah and Jama’h.
