GENIUS OF HADITH SCHOLARS IN THE SELECTION PROCESS AND ITS IMPACT ON THE PURIFICATION OF THE PROPHET'S SUNNAH

Whenever we look closely at the methodology followed by Hadith scholars, and the way they took in revising the Prophet's Sunnah, we find accuracy, perfection, justice and fairness in this methodology, and this proves to us the greatness of the work done by these scholars. This research reveals an accurate process carried out by senior Hadith scholars and famous Imams such as al-Bukhari and Muslim, may Allah have mercy on them, which is the selection process and their genius in it, and how it contributed to purifying, editing and controlling the Prophet's Sunnah. The researcher uses the inductive method as well as the analytical approach in order to show the great effort exerted professionally by the senior Hadith scholars. The first section of the research is about the concept of selection, its synonyms, its stages and its objectives, and the excellence of Hadith critical scholars in the process of selection. The second section is about the stages of selection, its objectives, and its methods. The third section is about the types of selection that made by Hadith scholars. The fourth section is about the importance of knowing the selection process among Hadith scholars, supported by examples about that. The fifth section is about the impact of the selection process in preserving the Prophet's Sunnah. The research arrives at several findings, among which are: first, justice in dealing with Hadith narrators accompanied the science of Hadith criticism and modification at all stages; second, not all the narrations of every weak narrator are to be rejected, nor all narrations of every trusted narrator are to be accepted, but to purify the most correct and accurate narrations; third, the selection process is a careful process that contributed to preserving the Prophet's Sunnah and purifying it from the defective narrations.
